- Here's the rundown:
- They started by saying Brian Pillman had a knee injury and was on
- crutches and would not be able to wrestle. Jesse then interview Flyin'
- Brian when Brad Armstrong comes out. Flyin' Brian acts all apologetic
- to Brad Armstrong but we all know what's coming next, Pillman attacks
- Armstrong's leg with the crutch. Since the attack was befefore the
- match, Pillman can't be DQ'ed. One minute later, Pillman pins Brad
- Armstrong by clipping the leg.
- Next match, Erik Watts & Kensuke Sasaki v. Anderson & Eaton. A short
- match in which only Sasaki looked above average. It ended with all four
- men in the ring and you guessed it Watts got Eaton in the STF and Eaton
- submitted.
- The boxing match came next. Of course, it looked very fake looking
- with JBB basically kicking Flamingo's ass in the first round. During
- the break, you could see Vegas & DDP filling Flamingo's glove with water.
- In the second round, Flamingo lands a punch with the glove (it made a
- really nice thud sound) and knocked Badd out.
- Oh somewhere in here, they held the drawing for the first match at
- Battle Bowl and the first 2 teams are Cactus Jack/JBB v Dan Spivey/Van
- Hammer (i know all the lines are busy at your local cable company so
- you'll just have to wait :).
- Next match, Ron Simmons & nameless black (naturally) partner (a sub
- for Robbie Walker) v. Barbarian/Atlas/Cactus. Jesse & Ross emphasized
- heavily that they didn't know who this fellow was and (*shock*) he was
- the best performer of the night! He did a dive over the top rop onto
- all three opponents, tried a moonsault like maneuver onto Cactus Jack
- who was standing in the middle of the ring (Jesse said he hit Cactus
- on the head with his foot but it could be Jesse was just covering for
- his flub), and a great move off the tope rope (which I'll describle in
- a second). The ending had Ron Simmons triple-teamed but he ducked the
- loaded boot from the Barbarian which hit Atlas instead. Simmons knocked
- Cactus Jack & Barbarian to the outside and Simmons' partner came off
- the top rope with about a forward 1 1/2 somersault splash onto the prone
- Atlas. After the match, Ross interviewed Simmons & partner who goes
- under the Too Cold Scorpio but he has no gimmick outfit or mask. He
- certainly blows Max Moon away.
- Paul E. v. Madusa was pretty boring basically Madusa kicks his ass
- but the 5 minute time limit save Paul E.
- A solid *** star match between Sting & Rude which went the 20 minute
- time limit and Sting won a split decision. The time limit was no
- surprise since they had 3 special judges for this match: Ole Anderson
- (Sting), Hiro Matsuda (Sting), and Larry Z. (Rude).
- The tag team match was another solid *** 1/2 star match. Dustin
- and Barry were functioning as a team well for most of the match. The
- turning point (so to speak) was when Steamboat attempted to leapfrog
- Dustin but got headbutted to the crotch. Dustin wouldn't pin Steamboat
- causing an argument with Barry Windham who tagged himself in. Barry
- went for the pin but Steamboat kicked out. Barry inflicted a few
- inverted atomic drops on Steamboat and as he went for another pin attempt
- Dustin pulled him off. They argued and then exchange slaps and punches.
- Douglas tagged in and caught Windham with a Belly-to-Belly for the pin.
- Dustin congratulated Douglas & Steamboat as they left and then walked
- back to the dressing room by himself. Windham called Dustin back to
- the ring and they argued some more and Windham kicked Dustin to the
- stomach, DDT'ed him, and superplexed Rhodes. The show ended with
- a Douglas/Steamboat interview with Jesse when Windham interrupted and
- chaired both men before running them both into the steel lockers.
-
- Overall, I give this Clash a "B". I give this grade not because it was
- particularly above average as far as Clashes go but it looked great
- in comparison to Havoc. Visually, it looked good for a WCW product but
- not much great wrestling.
