- Well, I've used a couple grenades from Strange Ordinance. They are the M69/A2
- grenade, and retail at 7$, which is a bit steep.
- This grenade is a small explosive in a canister of paint just larger than a
- fist. It has a pin, which prevents removal of a small plastic cap. This cap
- has a string attached to it which runs into the grenade. So, you pull the pin,
- jerk the cap off, and lob it to where the opposing player is. When you pull
- off the cap, the grenade makes a hissing noise (exactly like a CO2 tank being
- changed :)). It has a fuse that I am told is five seconds, but really feels
- like three.
- One, do not allow the grenade to freeze or get put by the heater, as it
- messes up the fuse, and it'll probably go off in your hand. Two, the explosive
- is not large enough to injure (see One. We had one go off in hand). Three, the
- blast radius is not large. Perhaps three steps to either side, and it's kind
- of erratic. Four, they _are_ pretty reliable as far as working, as I've only
- heard of one not working (see One and Two) out of several cases.
- So I've found that these grenades work best indoors, preferably if you've
- bottled someone up in a bunker. If the grenade doesn't get him, it'll
- probably flush him. Or, if you hear someone on the other side of a wall,
- lobbing one over is a lot easier than jumping around the corner to shoot at
- him. All in all, though, I think the best possible use is to scare somebody,
- either flush them so you can pick them off, or to provide cover for your
- advance. For that purpose, I make sure the other team is aware that I have
- a grenade, and that they've all seen it. I also exagerate the blast radius a
- bit.
- Oh, by the way, its a bit tricky pulling off the cap and lobbing the
- grenade while holding a gun, I usually have to put down my gun, pull the
- pin, then the cap, pause, lob it, snatch up my gun, and start shooting.
- I am just starting to work with dummy grenades. I'll let you know how they
- work.
