- This surprised me also. With Gross' salary, I thought for sure he would
- be unprotected. He is too expensive to be a middle reliever so my guess is
- they either didn't want two inexperience ML pitchers in their rotation,
- or they are planning to use Gross in the closer role, if they can obtain
- no one else (God help us).

- My biggest fear as a Dodger fan, though, is that Fred Claire in his
- infinite stupidity will find a way to sign Jeff Reardon. I have no inside
- information, just a feeling, and experience on the trials of Fred Claire.
