- How could the expansion teams pass on Keith Mitchell. As an avid Braves fan,
- he looked great last year (.318 avg on pennant contender) and has good minor
- league credentials. He's young and he has shown he can hit ML pitching. True
- he did slump a bit in spring and this year in AAA but I think he could step
- in and play a good LF for Colorado or Florida for a long time.
-
- After Nied was taken (brilliant choice, kills me to see him go as he's from
- Dallas where I live) Mitchell was available. Castilla was taken (another good
- choice, great defense) but he probably would have been available at the end.
- If you take Mitchell second and Castilla last, or vice versa, you can avoid
- Armando Reynoso, who is decent but will never be great. Mitchell at least has
- the potential to be a good one.
-
- The Braves escaped from this a lot better than I thought they would. I mean
- Marvin Freeman, Damon Berryhill and Mitchell were readily available and not
- taken. The expansion clubs could have hurt the Braves a lot more than they
- did.
-
- Braves look real good to repeat as NL champs. Should be interesting '93 season!
