  17. Ah, Gawd, tell me about it.
  18. Our house is 2 miles S of the Y in Tahoe City.  One weekend starting on
  19. a backcountry overnight trip North of Squaw we got into a line South of
  20. the Y.  At the Y, I made the decision to drive the long way.  We had a VW
  21. camper which DIDN'T follow us.  They stuck it out bumper to bumper
  22. to pass Squaw.  We drove the Lake shore to 267 all the way to Truckee,
  23. then down 89 and got in the South bound line for a few minutes.  We still
  24. beat the VW bus by over five minutes at the cost of driving maybe 8 times
  25. as far.  Ah, the beauty of controlled experiments.

  27. We have other tricks to avoid situations like this, but they are far
  28. from perfect.
