  20. Blue Knob is near the Bedford exit of the Turnpike. Extrovert is an honest
  21. double black---OK, OK--it'd be a single black at Snowbird. The area has
  22. 1050' drop and Extrovert's about 800'.  Bad news...it's unlikely to be
  23. open in December. Best time for Extrovert starts in Feb till closing in
  24. March. The area's pretty conservative about opening it because they usually
  25. see a fair number of shoulder injuries (QUESTION: Are shoulder injuries
  26. the most common injury on steep bumps?).

  28. How steep is Extrovert?  I'm not sure, but it gives you an honest workout
  29. for western double diamonds. A friend once told me that it's about the
  30. same as Killington's Outer Limits.

  32. 2nd choices:  If Laurel Mt. near Pitt is open this year, there's a fairly
  33. steep run with a double fall line that goes for 400-600' drop. Not bad.

  35. WISP (MD) may have THE FACE open by Dec. Almost as steep as Extrovert.

  37. That's about it until you get into Snowshoe, WVA.  I have heard that Whitetail
  38. in PA has steep terrain, but somehow I doubt it.

  40. Of course, one's perception
  41. of steepness is also a function of snow surface quality. I've been on low
  42. blues which were pure ice and certainly white-knuckes skiing...You get
  43. this sort of day in the mid-Atlantic until late Feb-early March.
