  28. So here are the replies with names deleted. In summary $559 is probably
  29. worth it. Although one netter did get 7% rebate from 47 St, their
  30. fine print (read "hard to read") about the 5% shipping charge did scare 
  31. me away, not because of the charge, but because of the way they put up 
  32. their ads. So I ended up ordered from CWO, for $559.85 with the said
  33. lens. Hope it will arrive as they promised (Tuesday, I asked 2nd day
  34. Fedx).

  41. Note that 47th street photo charge 5% of order for shipping. This isn't
  42. a big deal for lots of small heavy items which may be expensive to ship
  43. anyway, but if you order something like an EOS 1 or an F4s be prepared
  44. for the shipping charge! Still, an effective 2% discount with free shipping
  45. is better than nothing.

  49. Don't choose a store to buy a camera from based solely on price.  Some
  50. places are cheaters.  For your purusal, I've appened the photo survey.

  57. I'm just waiting for the right time to take the plunge on the very
  58. same Elan kit you mentioned, and although I would consider B&H, as
  59. they apparently do a good job for a NY outfit, I would just as soon
  60. go with Camera World (which is on the same coast as I am, and they
  61. have quite a good reputation).  That's the same price I was quoted
  62. over the phone a few months back (C.W.O.), by the way.

  65. Yep.  I got the kit from them (don't remember off hand what
  66. I paid), and I got the 7% rebate.  USA warranty.  No problems.
  67. You do have to remember to mail in the rebate request after
  68. the fact.  Took them a month or two to get me the check.

  72. 7% rebate? ain't no such thing.  47th st. photo will probably just give you
  73. 7% back out of their own pocket. I consider that nothing more than a 
  74. marketing trick.  B&H and CWO are equally reputable, but CWO ships lightning
  75. fast.  (to california anyways) then again, if you're getting other things as 
  76. well, compare the prices of those items.

  80. Check out the mail order survey that gets posted here frequently.  Most
  81. of the mail order places seem to be pretty slimy, with CWO being a major
  82. exception.  It's not worth $40 to deal with a place that consistently
  83. gets horrible reviews from people here on the net.
