- Just to add another sample of data...
-
-
- Yesterday, my wife and I had our two Sheltie puppies (just under 8
- months old) tattooed. The work was performed by Rosemary Wortman of
- Baldwinville, MA. Rosemary does tattooing clinics at shows, clubs,
- training classes, and vets' offices; however, we had a "private"
- session at her house.
-
- Our pups' reactions were pretty much the same as when they get shots
- at the vet. A fair amount of shivering by both, and some struggling
- by one. Clearly, the thing they didn't like was being held on their
- side by three people. I'm sure the grooming table reminded them of
- the vet's examining table. I saw no visible reactions to the electric
- shaver used to clear a patch on the inside of the thigh, nor were
- there any reactions to the tattooing pen.
-
- We used no sedatives nor topical anesthesia. Based on what we saw,
- this was the right choice, at least for our dogs.
-
- We are very happy with Rosemary's work. She charges $8 per dog, and
- there is also the $38 (just raised from $35), one-time registration
- fee for the National Dog Registry.
-
- The high point of the day was seeing our two little Shelties meet
- Rosemary's pack of Irish Wolfhounds. We met a few adults and two
- 2.5-month-old puppies. Puppy personality and 60+ pounds of body
- weight add up to an interesting combination!
