- Someone posted a message that they were having trouble with a new cat and
- her old one. When I first brought Spike home Harry went nuts! She felt
- cheated, here was a new kid on the block that she had to share food, water,
- toys, bed and mommy and daddy with. Spike was eager to have a home and a
- new buddy. Harry was aggresive, she would claw at Spike, growl and even
- pissed on the floor. We would leave the two of them together when we could
- supervise, but as soon as they started any aggresive behavior they were
- seperated. We took turns with who would get locked in the bedroom. We
- made sure they both got the same amount of love and affection. After two
- days Harry started to be more friendly although she did not like Spike
- using "her" litter box. By the fourth day they were the best of friends
- and we did not have to let them fight with each other to get there. In
- case it matters Harry is female, and Spike is male. They were only 4 - 6
- months old when we introduced them. My advice is to be patient and do your
- best to keep them from duking it out.
