  12. I am also a college student who is a responsible pet owner.  I got my
  13. cat when he decided to move in with me.  I had thought he lived with
  14. the crazy lady who lived next door to me.  She had about 30 cats and
  15. they were breeding out of control.  There were always new kittens
  16. there, and after they reached about two months they disappeared.  I
  17. knew she was probably taking them to the shelter, which disgusted me
  18. but there was nothing I could do about it.  She was not a very 
  19. friendly person and she never spoke to me.  I would have a fantasy
  20. that I would come into a lot of money and I would sneak all her
  21. cats to the vet and get them fixed.  I would take scraps from
  22. the restaurant where I worked and put them out for the cats 
  23. because they looked sort of undernourished.
  24.    One of my crazy neighbors cats was very striking.  He was an
  25. enormous black long haired cat.  Everyone who came to visit me 
  26. admired him.  He is the largest cat I have ever seen.  My 
  27. roommate called him Big Black Fuzzy Kitty. We made up descriptive
  28. names for all the neighbor cats since we didn't know their real
  29. names.  Along with Big Black Fuzzy Kitty, there was little gray
  30. kitty, 3-legged kitty, striped kitty and so on.
  31.    Big Black Fuzzy Kitty must have sensed my admiration for him
  32. and he decided he wanted to live with me.  If I ever opened my 
  33. apartment door he ran in.  At night he perched on my bedroom window
  34. ledge and cryed.  I fell in love him.  My roommate found out that
  35. he did not belong to the crazy neighbor.  He wandered into her
  36. house because she left the window open during the day so her
  37. cats could go in and out.  When I petted Big Black Fuzzy Kitty
  38. I noticed how pitifully thin he was.
  39.    I took Kitty to the vet and the vet estimated that he was 3
  40. years old and he was already nuetered.  I think it is kind of 
  41. ironic that my neighbor had all those animals breeding out of 
  42. control and I took the only one who was already nuetered.  
  43.    The vet weighed Kitty and he weighed 16 lbs. when he was 
  44. starving.  I don't want to think about how much he probably 
  45. weighs now.
  46.    He has been wonderful pet and I think the people who 
  47. abandoned him must have been insane.  
  48.    Since I have gotten Kitty I have moved 6 times.  I took two
  49. semesters off to work full time in Phoenix.  I go to school in
  50. Flagstaff.  He seems happier when we live in Flagstaff.  Maybe 
  51. it is the lack of trees and the ubearable heat in Phoenix.  Or
  52. maybe he senses that I hate to live in Phoenix and adopts my
  53. mood.
  54.    I never meant for this to be so long but I get carried away
  55. when I start talking about Kitty.  It is nice to find a place
  56. where I can talk about Kitty, most of my friends are dog people.
