- My almost 2-year old Persian cat, Murphy (yes, I named HER after
- Murphy Brown) has just started jumping up on my dining room table.
- She has never even attempted to jump on anything. I was working
- at my table the other night and felt a thud as she jumped into my
- lap and then proceeded to walk all over the table. She figured out
- that she could jump on me and then get to the table. This went on
- for two days. Then she figured out that she doesn't need to jump
- on the human she can jump from the floor all by herself. This
- doesn't make Katsu, the Queen of the household, very happy since
- Murphy is now taking over her spot on the wicker basket thingy that
- Katsu has napped on for 10 years. Katsu was sprawled out and dreaming
- away when Murphy hopped up on the table and then proceeded to try
- to edge her way on top of the basket lid, shoving Katsu out of the
- way. This ended up in an all out war with paws flailing and the two
- of them fighting on the table. This is all going on as I am
- working with a hot soldering iron and stained glass pieces. Needless
- to say I had to move the iron out of the way and break up the
- fight.
-
- Murphy has always been a quirky little thing. She is afraid of her
- own shadow and loves to be under things. She has lived under the
- table for two years. She loves to hide under the bed. She has
- always been standoffish and hates being held. When you pick her up
- she will immediately start snorting and sniffing and crying to be
- put down. It's a riot. I've never had a Persian before and I'm
- wondering if this is typical of the breed? Any other Persian
- owners out there with quirky cats?
