  13.     Hi! First of all, I'd like to ask if anyone has the text to
  14. Ode to Spot (Data's poetry). If so, please send it to me. I understand
  15. it was posted recently, but I couldn't find it in the backlog.

  17.     Second: My cat Fluff is 18, and I've had her forever. I'm one
  18. of those college-attending cat-lovers! Anyway, she was in excellent
  19. health (bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and more active than me!) until she 
  20. had the bad luck to assert her autonomy around a large dog. He picked 
  21. her up and shook her, smacking her head on the ground and causing spinal
  22. trauma. She has recovered from the concussion just fine, but her back 
  23. legs are still not up to specs. She can walk, but resembles a drunk
  24. cowboy after a 300 mile ride - ie bowlegged and *very* wobbly.
  25.     She was in deep shock, and apparently suffered some kidney 
  26. damage. Now she needs a prescription diet. This gets more complicated
  27. because she has about 3 teeth left - the ONLY sign of her age. I'm 
  28. really sure why I'm posting this - except to collect some commiseration'
  29. from other cat lovers. I love her very, very much - life without her is
  30. just unthinkable. For a while, it looked like it might happen.
  31.     Fortunatly, Isis or whoever was thinking about us, and she will
  32. recover. She will NOT like being an exclusively indoor cat, though.

  34.     So far this has all cost me $560. I'm sure the bloodwork, etc.
  35. is not over yet. I am student, as noted above, and VERY broke. This
  36. is exacerbated by my housing situation - I am paying full rent in a 
  37. two-bedroom apt., thanks to a roommate who royally screwed me over.
