- Unbelieveable! Your neighbor owns a *Bengal* and she says,
- "Oh, well she has to learn how to cope outdoors"? I wouldn't
- be surprised if she paid $1000 or more for this kitten, if it's
- really a Bengal. She must have more money than brains! Have
- you noticed any other signs of mental derangement in your new
- neighbor? Does she leave other valuables lying about outside?
-
- Isn't she afraid that the cat will be stolen? All the people
- I know with rare breeds wouldn't dream of letting them out of
- the house.
-
- Bengals are purebred cats. They haven't the instincts nor the
- training from their mothers to deal with the outside world.
- They haven't been outdoors for several generations. The probability
- that one of these cats will "learn how to cope outdoors" before
- getting itself killed by a dog or an automobile is not very good.
-
- If you could discreetly find out the name of the breeder of this
- kitten, I'll bet that person would have something to say about
- this incident. Given a name, I might be able to find an address
- or a phone number. The breeder might be concerned enough to try to
- retrieve the kitten from what appears to be an irresponsible owner,
- or at the very least, try to talk some sense into this person, if
- its possible.
