- Are you on a non-stop flight? If the temperature at the change over
- city is below (or above in summer) a certain temp (I don't know what it
- is) they won't let you board your pet. This protects your pet from
- freezing if it gets left on the tarmac too long, but you need to be
- prepared in case you get to the airport and they won't board your kitty.
- Have a contingency plan (a friend to take her home?).
-
- I like to line my carrier with news paper with a towel or old shirt
- which smells like me on top. The news paper is very absorbant in case
- kitty has an accident.
-
- Don't put food in the carrier. And don't feed her for 1/2-1 hour before
- leaving for the airport or you will have a sick kitty.
-
- Show kitty the litter box before you leave home. Sometimes mine decide
- they need to use it before we leave. (Oh thanks, Mom, I forgot I needed
- to go).
-
- Do have water available in the cage. Make sure it is in a tip proof
- container or fastened securely to the door.
-
- Does you kitty handle stress well? If not, you may want to get a
- tranquilizer from your Vet.
-
- I like the suggestion from someone else about 'locking' the door so it
- can't open by itself. It's along the same lines of locking your suitcase
- so it doesn't pop open and display your undies to everyone.
-
- Good Luck.
- Have a good trip!
