- I think that, that far back, the Ealdorman would have worn the most
- beautiful and ornate clothes and jewelry he could get and afford (as
- many have already remarked on this bridge). He would also have been
- surrounded by his large, well-armed following, and you would know he
- was an Ealdorman because you knew who he was...or if you didn't, you
- would damnwell soon learn.
