GM> I'm looking for musicians and dancers who are planning on attending
GM> CostumeCon 11, February 12-15 1993 in Pittsburgh, and are willing to
GM> participate in programming segments. This year the Con is hoping to
GM> present several 1 hour programs on historical and ethnic dance
GM> (everything from Medieval to Swing, if we're lucky : so far we've got
GM> someone for Vienese Waltzes, a Regency group, and Middle Eastern
GM> dancers). Course that leaves a lot of gaps in time, so I'm looking for
GM> people or groups who are willing to either 1. Perform dancing, 2. Teach
GM> dancing, 3. Play live music for performing and teaching, 4. Talk briefly
GM> about appropriate clothing for the period/dance style.
Gretchen -- I wish I lived closer, as this is exactly the sort of thing I love to do....*sigh* but the drive from Dallas is just not possible...
Am passing the info along to a dancing master in Indiana in the hopes he'll find you someone....
BTW-- the best you'll be able to do on the earliest dance is Renaissance -- we have no Medieval dance references extant, alas. Still, 1400's - on still gives you a lot of scope.
Good luck with your con -- I love the idea and wish I could attend!
Please post how it goes!
