  19. OGDEN HOT SPRINGS

  23. Elevation 4,800 ft.  Open all year.

  25. Natural mineral water flows out of a spring at 130 degrees and through
  26. a pipe to a volunteer-built, rock-and-mud pool at the water's edge.
  27. The temperature is controlled by diverting the flow when desired.  The
  28. apparent local custom is clothing optional.

  32. Directions: From I-15 in Ogden, go east 14 miles on UT 39 to the mouth
  33. of Ogden Canyon.  The pool is 100 feet upstream from the water pipe
  34. suspended far above.  Parking is upriver just past where the river
  35. crosses under the road for the first time.

  37. STINKY SPRINGS
  38. West of the town of Brigham City

  40. A small partly vandalized cement-block bathhouse alongside a highway
  41. in the flat country north of the Great Salt Lake.  Elevation 4,000 ft.
  42. Open all year.

  44. Natural mineral water flows out of a spring at 118 degrees, through a
  45. culvert under the highway, and into three cement soaking pits in the
  46. abandoned building.  Temperature within each pool is controlled by
  47. diverting the hot-water flow as desired.  In recent years volunteers
  48. have kept the surrounding party trash to a minimum, but the water does
  49. have a sulfur-dioxide smell.  The apparent local custom is clothing
  50. optional within the building.

  54. Directions: From I-15, take the Golden Spike exit, then go nine miles
  55. west through Corrine on UT 83.  The building is on the south side of
  56. the road shortly before you reach Little Mountain, a rocky hill on the
  57. north side of the road.
