  28.         The song is called "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)," by Melanie
  29. (her last name, which she didn't use professionally, is Safka).  It was a
  30. hit for her in 1969 or 1970, on Buddah Records, one of their few
  31. non-bubble-gum artists to chart Top 40 hits.

  33.         A few years ago, Rolling Stone featured Melanie in a
  34. where-are-they-now article.  I don't remember what it said about her,
  35. though.
