- [Don't do it...don't respond...don't respond...]
-
- I can't help myself. Am I the only one who remembers when this group
- used to be free off 'this kind of sillyness'? Yes, strange as it may
- seem, all varieties of 'industrial' can be discussed in a civil manner.
- How? Well, gee, how about you just comment on things you like? Instead
- of railing somebody for posting about Nine Inch Nails, how about
- responding to that inquiry about what SPK albums to buy? Instead of
- ripping into Nitzer Ebb, how about you provide a review of that Stein
- album somebody was asking about? Odd as it may sound, this actually was
- occuring for a while. Then that certain group of people that I will
- refer to as the 'goober brigade' showed up. This 'goober brigade' is
- that group of people who jump all over a genre and then pretend like
- they've been listening to it since the dawn of time. Anybody who isn't
- into their current favorite genre is obviously a 'poseur', and needs to
- have their butts thoroughly kicked. Normally these 'goobers' can be
- successfully ignored for any given genre of music (the 'grunge' scene
- seems to pretty much successfully ignore the 'goobers' who have of late
- latched onto it). However, the basic problem here is that the
- definition of industrial has divided (look at the charter for this
- group. "The what?" The charter...you know, the thing that says that
- both 'traditional industrial' and 'dance industrial' are covered in this
- group...). So, the 'goobers' now have a convenient source of 'poseurs'
- to rail against, causing endless flamewars. With any luck, some other
- genre will come to their attention and they will all go away.
-
- The moral of the story? Don't flame people for posting. Simple, no?
- Go ahead and ridicule individual recordings...if you happen to think
- that a certain album is a total piece of excrement, go ahead and say it
- (but try to back it up). Most of the noise in this group is generated
- not by people posting about dance industrial, but by people whining
- about people posting about dance industrial. Think about it for a
- minute.
