  14. I realized last week, when it took me longer to copy out parts for an
  15. orchestration assignment than it did to score the &@%(@ thing, that I should
  16. see about getting a notation program. I have an IBM clone, 286-16 processor,
  17. with a 40 Meg hard drive and 1 Meg memory. I don't have Windows and would like
  18. to avoid it if at all possible; I don't have the hard drive space available to
  19. squander 6-8 MB solely on Windows, and I'd just as soon not go out and get any
  20. more memory.

  22. The only notation program I've heard of that will work on a PC without Windows
  23. is Score. Has anybody used this? Has anybody used any other non-Windows based
  24. notation programs?

  26. I should add that I've used Finale (our music department's notation program)
  27. but that it was definitely not the optimal program for me. I don't need MIDI
  28. at all, and it seems to me that a large part of Finale was MIDI.
