- I have just obtained the ASV CD of the Malipiero String Quartets, played
- by the Orpheus String Quartet.
-
- It is wonderful music - quartets using the forms of Italian Lyric
- Poetry, as evinced by the titals - "Rispetti e strambotti", "Stornelli e
- ballate", "Cantari alla madrigalesca", "Dei capricci".
-
- The music is fresh and exciting, and the first quartet "R e S" (1920)
- is particularly recommended to those who, like the composer (and your
- correspondent) , adore the sound of open strings on fiddles.
-
- Does anyone in NetLand know if his symphonies have been recorded? Any
- other works? Any contributions gratefully accepted (wipes harmonica on
- sleeve, and hobbles away into the shadows).
