- Because Paul initially disliked the Phil Spector job on "The Long and Winding
- Road" I don't think nowadays he would welcome the original piano/guitar/voice
- version.
- You just have to look at his "cover" of the song in "Give My Regards To
- Broad Street". Here was his chance to bring the "lost" version to the public
- but instead he made it if anything schmaltzier with the addition of a brass
- section. Obviously, conservative old Macca is now quite fond of the celestial
- choirs Spector brought to what is a pretty dull song anyway.
-
- PS. Has anyone else heard the cover versions of Beatle related tracks on the
- NME's "Ruby Trax" LP? I think World Party's "World Without Love" is brilliant.
