- Fair warning about RD springs! The two sets that I used
- in the Somewhat Deadly 540 Ascot were the _worst_ springs
- I've ever used. Admittedly, the SD540 uses the Megacycle
- 144-21 cam, which is _way_ more than the OEM unit, but this
- puppy snapped two intake valve springs in two weekends.
- Also, the redline wasn't _that_ high -- only 8000 rpm.
-
- Since I switched to the Secret Valve Springs in the
- Killer 591 Ascot (actually, only Joe Hutcheson, my motor
- builder, knows what they're really from), I've been able
- to rev (repeatably) to 10,500 rpm (don't even ask what the
- piston speed is -- most people are moving out of my draft
- when they hear it) with no valve spring problems, with
- the 144-21 cam (no cam/rocker train differences).
