  11. Fair warning about RD springs!  The two sets that I used
  12. in the Somewhat Deadly 540 Ascot were the _worst_ springs
  13. I've ever used.  Admittedly, the SD540 uses the Megacycle
  14. 144-21 cam, which is _way_ more than the OEM unit, but this
  15. puppy snapped two intake valve springs in two weekends.
  16. Also, the redline wasn't _that_ high -- only 8000 rpm.

  18. Since I switched to the Secret Valve Springs in the 
  19. Killer 591 Ascot (actually, only Joe Hutcheson, my motor
  20. builder, knows what they're really from), I've been able
  21. to rev (repeatably) to 10,500 rpm (don't even ask what the
  22. piston speed is -- most people are moving out of my draft
  23. when they hear it) with no valve spring problems, with
  24. the 144-21 cam (no cam/rocker train differences).
