- First time greetings:
-
- I've been an avid reader of this newsgroup since it began and that other
- rec.moto group before then. I've been trying to talk myself into getting
- a Harley since 1978, so I feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered that
- I had access to this network. Needless to say, I've received quite a bit
- of advice and wisdom from this group.
-
- A couple of weeks ago, my mid-life crisis overwhelmed me and I found myself
- shelling out some megabucks for a 1991 FXR Superglide. I don't know why I
- waited all these years.
-
- Anyway, I've a question or two that perhaps someone may want to respond to:
-
- 1. As the FXR looks pretty good now, I'd like to keep it looking that
- way. I've just rode ratbikes in the past and wasn't that concerned
- about looks. Anyone who would care to post their favorite method of
- giving their bike a bath, including brand name of products used,
- would be welcome.
- 2. I've noticed that when I hit a dip or bump in the road, I hear a
- "clunk" when the front forks extend to max. Would this indicate a
- problem or is it the nature of the beast? (In my recent former life,
- the Yamaha 650 I rode didn't act this way).
-
- Thanks for any responses you wish to make.
-
- Ivan
