- hmmm, I've got a pair of sheepskin army air corps (that might give you
- a clue how old they are) flight pants, which are basically shearling
- bib overalls (..in fact, speaking of 'bib': if you've ever seen a
- picture of bib, the michelin man, you've got a fairly good idea what
- I look like whilst wearing said pants -- svelte they're not) that are
- just the ticket when riding home in sub-20 degree weather for christmas,
- blasting down the interstate at seventy miles an hour. lotsa snow on the
- ground, but the roadway was pretty well clear (fortunately), though I was
- hyper-aware of the possibility of ice on overpasses. leather mittens and
- a goosedown jacket under my heavier leather jacket, plus a long wool scarf
- around my neck multiple times, the 'chin gasket' on my System 1 helmet, and
- a couple of layers of wool socks inside the german army messsenger boots
- did the trick, and, of couse, the fairing on the beemer was in no small
- part instrumental in preventing me from turning into a popsicle on the
- eighty mile trip to the christmas turkey. raised a few eyebrows at my
- folks' house, which made it even more fun...
