- Agreed. That's why I have had goggles for years. IMO there is no doubt that
- should you crash and hit your head, a helmet would be nice. However, every
- time we ride we take a calculated risk. Sometimes the added risk of going
- lidless is, by my calculations, worthwhile due to the added enjoyment derived
- from riding with the wind in my hair. Fuck the public burden argument. That
- can be used to limit any degree or type of behavior the enforcement agency
- would like. Or whatever degree of meddling we so-called "free" citizens
- will tolerate.
- The major cause of death in bike wrecks before helmet laws were enacted
- in Texas was busted guts, according to the DPS records they were kind enough
- to send me.
- If you don't want to pay for my or anyone elses injuries, then bitch to
- your legislators. They're the ones who think everyone is entitled to health
- care regardless of ability to pay. They're the ones taking whatever amount
- of money from your pockets and spending it on the mythical motorcycle
- vegetables. I don't mean to say none of these exist. Just that their numbers,
- and the taxpayer burden, have been grossly exagerrated.
