- I feel for you about the ticket. I didn't think cops on a revenge
- trip would bug families in mini-vans. Weird. I have a strategy that I use
- to minimize $$$/point damage in court.
-
- 1) Go to court, you have more to gain in the long run by protesting
- a speeding ticket in person.
-
- 2) After you get a court date, decide conveniently some time later
- that you have to postpone until a later date. This is legal and
- gives you this advantage: By rescheduling you probably will be
- placed at the end of the docket, thus allowing you to scout the
- judge. Invariably someone with a similar case will go before you
- . You will find out if the judge is a real SOB and how different
- attitudes of defendants work. Being co-operative and humble might
- pay off.
-
- 3) Insist that your speedometer read 8 mph less than radarboy's charge. If the officer doesn't show (likely if you rescheduled) this may be
- easier to swallow for the court prosecutor. The magic number 8 is
- from experience (mine. 6 tickets, 2 dismissed, 4 plea bargained,0 pts)
-
- 4) Bring DoD 983.3 with you. Dress nicely. Smile.
-
-
- Hope this advice helps.
