- For a trip like that I think I'd have to go with the BMW R100GS Paris-Dakar.
- The FJ is nice, but it does not care much for dirt or gravel roads. Bob
- Palin might disagree (and his credentials are much better than mine
- since he's actually done it), but I think a Gold Wing would be to heavy,
- and the Harley doesn't have much ground clearance. The 10,000 gallon
- tank on the P-D could be a real comfort on those long, lonely stretches
- of road too.

- Trans-Alaska Highway is mostly (completely?) paved now. But what's the
- point of riding clear to Alaska if you don't do a bit of adventuring
