- Thanks. I knew I'd get there in the end.

- I think my dad had one on one of his Beezers. He had a Watsonian and a Stieb
- at various other times. I his Watsonian (I think) he could and did carry
- three adults. Two more on the bike and the hole 'combo' carried more people
- than most affordable cars of the period and had better performance. I spent
- my early years being ferried around in combos. Father was in the RAF and did
- not earn much money. He could not afford a car and could not afford the
- petrol to run a car either. After the war (fifties and early sixties) petrol
- was comparitively expensive in Blighty. Many many people had bikes, purely
- as affordable transport. This was one of the reasons (I presume) why most
- British bikes were singles and twins and used single carburettors in order to
- be economical. Nowadays, petrol usage is a bit OTT. Kay only does about
- 41MPG which is a bit disgusting, but I do ride her hard though. C'est la vie.
