  26. I must admit, I don't consider myself a "biker" --it's not a hobby for 
  27. me; not a lifestyle, it just gets me to school and work at highway speed.

  29. I wear a helmet--wouldn't think of riding without one (saved my life once 
  30. already).
  31. But I object to the LAW requiring it.

  33. I've spoken with a couple guys I know that also ride, some are eager 
  34. enthusiasts.  We've come to the consensus that it's NOT the actual issue 
  35. of
  36. whethere or not its safe to ride one, but an issue of choice--choice that 
  37. has been taken away wether or not we would normally choose to wear a 
  38. helmet anyway.

  40. The problem seems to be that the Insurance Lobbies have finally passed 
  41. this law when it really wasn't necessary to make it a state legal issue.
  42. The insurance companies could easily have resolve WITHIN their industry 
  43. that people who don't wear helmets pay a higher premium; or that people 
  44. who get caught in an accident without a helmet don't get their 
  45. settlements, or get lower settlements.

  47. The thing that pisses a lot of us off (and I admit, I'm taking quite a 
  48. liberty to speak for many whose opinions I haven't gathered) is that IT 
  49. DIDN'T HAVE TO BE A DOGMATIC "DO IT OR DON'T RIDE AT ALL" type of 
  50. dictatorial paternalistic attitude which fails to treat motorcyclers as 
  51. Human Beings with abilities to make such judgements for themselves.
