  25. Not quite.  Daimler invented the motorcycle in 1885.  (The car was
  26. invented by him in 1886).  Dr. Rudolf Diesel didn't get around
  27. to inventing the diesel engine until 1894.

  29. BTW, Daimler started Daimler Automotive.  Benz bought in years later
  30. making it Daimler-Benz.  Daimler died in 1900.  Somewhere around 
  31. 1920, Daimler-Benz came out with a new car and decided to name it 
  32. "Mercedes" after the daughter of Benz (or his son?).

  34. Anyway, the Mercedes became very popular and since Daimler was
  35. no longer around to protest, they changed the name of the company.

  37. So, it would be incoorect to say that Mercedes invented the motorcycle.
