- Think twice about this one. I made the mistake of buying a BSA 441 back in
- 1984. Last year I finally got rid of it, and a few months back I bought a
- Yamaha SR500, which I should have done in the first place.
- I love English bikes, and have owned a few. Still have a Norton and a
- Triumph, but the Victor, although fun when running, was a royal pain in
- the ass. Starting was difficult to impossible. Parts cracked fairly regularly.
- The light weight and low end torque are a blast. They're starting to command
- ridiculous prices (to me, anything over $500!) from nostalgic folks who don't
- recall what they were really like. A nice one will bring $1200-1500.
- The SR500 has all the good points of the Victor, and so far, none of the
- drawbacks. If BSA had made them half as good, they'd still be in business.
