- More from the Abominable Slushman:-
-
- Something else to watch in cold weather -
-
- A while back the AA [add another A if west of The Pond] measured friction
- coefficients of various road surfaces. Heavily salted, wet roads had alomost
- identical coeffs to dry icy ones! I.e. not very much. Dry salty roads were
- similar to wet unsalted ones. I can vouch for the fact that things get
- slippery after repeated resaltings of damp roads.
-
- So, if its damp enough to wet the salt, but not damp enough to wash it
- away - be a bit gentle with the right wrist. lso, remeber that shutting
- the throttle down suddenly cna unstick the back on ice or salt just as
- easily as opening it up!. Do EVERYTHING very smoothly.
-
- Advantages to crap surfaces are that your tyres go furhter, and you
- slide along the tarmac instead of sticking to it in a big red smear.
-
- Sod the typos, editing on a machine this slow is impossible.

- Cheers
