- well, a friend and i headed up to Canada one fine day to escape
- New Jersey, 'cause it sucks balls here, and we threw in a
- 1 gallon gas container into my hard luggage trunk on the back
- of my CX500. well, it got MIGHTY cold there, and we were riding
- along on this fine road, and started looking for a gas station. we
- always check the distance to the next town to make sure that we have
- got enough gas to make it, but these little towns shut down when it
- got past 6:00 pm. so we were riding and riding, and getting lower and
- lower on gas, and it was COLD out. we did eventually find a open gas
- station, but only after we were both on reserve and had used that
- gallon of gas! needless to say, i will *NEVER* tour without that
- little 1 gallon again. i'd probally still be walking if i didn't have
- it. and the one that i have is real small, square, hard plastic,
- and hardly takes up any room at all. and as far as the 'gas
- bomb' theory goes, there's a huge gas bomb right between my
- legs anyway, and sometimes in my large intestine depending on what
- i've eaten. also, spare control cables are good to have when you tour.
- it would suck to be stuck in the middle of nowhere because of a
- broken cable. easy repair, small part, cheap, but REAL inconvient
- when they go on you and you don't have a spare.
-
- peace. ride safe.
