- Not really -- what happened is that the FAA published its incredibly
- complicated version of something with a glancing resemblance to what
- we actually proposed. At that point, it IMMEDIATELY went to our
- LAWYERS, who put together all the appropriate magical incantations
- to hammer the bastards roundly. That sort of magic takes time, but
- it also saves time in the long run.
-
- (After five years of waiting for the FAA to do squat, we hired these
- experienced FAA-affairs lawyers who ran through three rounds of
- responding to the FAA's typical "fuck you" letters with letters of
- the sort, "You say this, but see court case X where you can't say that;
- you claim that, but see court case Y where you can't claim that; so
- terribly sorry, but fuck YOU, and you better stop dragging your ass
- or tell it to the judge." And voila -- publication magically occurred.)
-
- So what happened here is that the lawyers needed all this time to work
- up a tight 60-page legal tiger cage that the FAA is not going to be
- able to argue or squirm their way out of. These guys are GOOD.
-
- In point of fact, we ordered reprints of the FAA proposal before they
- even had any in stock.
