  29. The USENET newsgroup, rec.crafts.metalworking, is a newsgroup which discusses
  30. various aspects of working with metal, such as (but not limited to):

  32.   machining, as on a lathe, milling machine, grinder, etc.;
  33.   numerical control of such machines;
  34.   welding, whether by gas, arc, mig, tig, thermite, or other methods;
  35.   Metal joining, whether welding, brazing, soldering, riveting,
  36.     screwing, folding, etc.  (this section was added during the discussion)
  37.   casting various metals by various methods;
  38.   hardening/tempering various metals;
  39.   blacksmithing/forging;
  40.   spinning and hammer work;
  41.   sheet metal work;
  42.   jewelry-making;
  43.   purchasing and/or reconditioning metalworking tools and machinery;
  44.   interesting projects;
  45.   books on metal technologies and history;
  46.  
  47. Example areas of interest:

  49.   knife/sword making;
  50.   automotive repair;
  51.   steam engine (model/scale, though full-sized discussions are welcome!);
