- I don't think you can draw a line that easily. Some kup grades are
- perfectly capable of defending themselves and some dan grades are not.
- It is true that "a little knowledge is dangerous" in most cases but
- gaining a black-belt can sometimes reset one's sense of invulnerability.

- Since training can be "irrelevant" on the street, "rank" must be doubly so.
