  14. It's time to set the record straight on the Green Golf Ball Joke.

  16. The GGBJ has never appeared in this group or any other.  Internet
  17. is set up to recognize and delete the GGBJ whenever it is sent.

  19. It cannot be sent translated or uuencoded.  It cannot be transmitted
  20. in text, zip, lha, compress, or any other coding method.

  22. This was originally done as an experiment in Artificial Intelligence.
  23. The goal was to have the net check and reject the GGBJ.  It now does
  24. so in over 350 permutations and a total of 72 languages and dialects.

  26. I, personally, translated it to Mandarin, scanned it into a gif file,
  27. converted it to jpeg, broke it into four pieces, each rotated ninety
  28. degrees, and it STILL REJECTED IT, although part one did get through
  29. before the rest were stopped.  My account, however, was cancelled.
