- Heraldic protection did not and does not usually apply outside of a given
- area, such as Scotland, France et cetera. It is quite possible that your
- family has held the same arms as those of the Hohenzollerns (much more
- likely with simple arms in any case). Whether or not any member of your
- family has claim to those arms depends on:

- 1) The heraldic laws of the juristiction they were granted under

- 2) Who begat whom, as well as when and what sex, in the line of descent.
