- Hi,
-
- I have a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag with a 1.5-7x TC scope that I have
- been having problems shooting with. When I first purchased the scope I
- installed it myself using the factory scope rings that came with the
- the gun. But not knowing what I was doing I didn't use any Locktight(?)
- type material and after shooting off a few rounds the scope had loosened
- and was probably jarred pretty heavily. I reset the scope myself
- and repeated this cycle a few times before getting the scope
- professionally mounted.
-
- Now I have a firmly mounted scope, but when I shoot the gun at a
- very large target from a distance of 25 yards I'm all over the target.
- I'm talking 18'' up or down and 12'' left or right.
- I have caught myself flinching on occasion but most of the time as the
- shot is being fired I'm still looking through the scope and don't appear
- to be off more then a couple of inches from the center of the target.
-
- My questions are, is it possible that I have damaged the scope
- previously from all the jarrging caused by it coming loose? Is it
- typical for a damaged scoped to not be able to shoot groups or is
- it just the zeroing ability that becomes a problem with a damaged scope?
- Could I be off by this much from unskillful shooting? I shoot a
- 7mm magnum rifle at 50 yards with 1 inch groups without any type
- of flinching problem. If I do have a scope problem can I verify it
- without taking it off and paying a fee to have it professionally
- installed again? Any suggestions on a good durable scope for this
- gun?
-
- Thanks in advanced to all responses any information will be greatly
- appreciated.
