- Remember that a civilian has absolutely no responsibility to apprehend
- a suspect. (This is part of the reason for the difference in
- acceptable levels of force viz. the restriction of the use of
- bludgeons by civilians.)

- Giving a burglar/robber the opportunity to escape is most likely the
- best thing you could do. Remember the fight or flight reflex. In
- most cases, showing a firearm will cause the suspect to flee.

- Providing the PD with a good description of the suspect will always
- help.
