  20. Having been there, let me explain what I did.

  22. At the door, at about 11pm, was a not-obviously-armed person I did not
  23. recognize.  In Harlem, NY.  I alerted the people in the house, including my
  24. Dad.  I then took a cane we have at the door for this purpose, raised it to
  25. a position that made it usable as a weapon, and opened the door slightly.
  26. My large and vicious-looking dog picked this moment to present himself.

  28. "Do you I know you?" <or do I have to beat your head in> was how I greeted
  29. this person.

  31. To my embarassment, he was my little sister's friend's father.  I let him
  32. in :-).

  34. I have since come to grips with my potentially stupid tactical position of
  35. having opened the door, by rationalising that Mr. Kopelson is slightly
  36. built and looks about as fierce as a puppy.  He also had both hands in
  37. view, and would have found it difficult to draw a weapon before I knocked
  38. him down the steps with my stick :-).
