  14. Last year my 3 huge oak trees shed so many acorns in the fall, that
  15. we were rolling down the driveway and covering our heads outside.
  16. Falling from 100 - foot plus heights, they made dents in the cars
  17. and quite a racket for weeks.
  18. This year almost none!  It was a damp cool summer. Gypsy moths were
  19. less of a problem than usual and the trees seem healthy.  I'm wondering
  20. what factors determine acorn formation in a given year.
