- And I (still) think it's a blessed +2 long sword named Frost Brand (not
- Frost brand as the spoilers and some other posters say). Once a priest or
- a wizard has a decent weapon, you can finish with them 3 out of 4 times.
- The GDSM is nice, but in case of problems you can always engrave Elbereth,
- and after some time you have collected enough AC anyways. The weapon is
- needed for wimpy characters: it's very annoying to fight a monster that
- regenerates faster than you can remove it's hit points with a simple athame
- or mace or scalpel...
- Once you have a good weapon, you should only die because of extreme bad luck
- or gross stupidity. That is why my second wish is for a blessed amulet of life
- saving. Once I had that, I never failed to finish the game.
-
- Ps. In my last game I used the blessed bag of holding trick for the first time
- (and yes, you can carry boulders if you do that). I found out that you can
- repeatedly do this, but after the third time, the bag gets so light that the
- calculations of hit chances go wrong: as long as I was holding the bag, I
- always missed the monster. So I had to drop it in every fight. Up to the
- point something swallowed me. I dropped my bag again, and killed the monster.
- Whin I wanted to pick it up again, I couldn't. It seems like it recalculated
- the weight from the contents. And I had things in there like 1000 rocks, that
- were to heavy to take out, so I couldn't even empty the thing. Took me some
- time to get that working again. So, note to the dev. team: when you fix the
- bag of holding weight code, probably to a system where blessing allows you to
- put in more, and keep the gain reasonable, don't forget to take out this
- recalculation effect.
