- I don't see ten tricks with this line: HA, heart ruff, 4 spades, 2 diamonds
- (I suppose that after the heart ruff you cash the DK) and the CA makes a
- total of 9.
-
- In order to get the tenth trick you must find clubs 3-3 or *a priori*
- decide for diamonds 3-3 (that seem unlikely), or for a defensive error
- that gives you the entrance in dummy for cashing the third diamond honor,
- and this reduces by much the chances of this line.
-
- Furthermore you need to play this line very carefully in order to avoid the
- danger of going out of controls of the trumps. Suppose infact this play:
- lead D->A, HQ ducked and, say, diamond return. Now if you play H->A,
- H ruff and two round of spades you can lose also with a 3-3 club and spades
- split (small club, heart return ruffed with the last trump, CA and clubs
- and you are down if the opponent with 5H takes the third club trick).
-
- Also considering alternatives to the previous line, I don't see immediately a
- reasonable satisfactory line of play based on heart (and/or club) ruffing.
