  19. What you're saying makes sense.  I think 4C is definitely Gerber on
  20. this auction, unless you have a specific agreement that Gerber applies
  21. only over 1NT and 2NT openings or something like that.  But this is
  22. the kind of hand where 4C should be Gerber.  Opener has a limited,
  23. balanced hand, and a raise to 4NT should definitely be quantitative,
  24. so you need 4C to ask for aces.  In my regular partnerships, I have
  25. Gerber marked as "obvious over notrump", which means 4C is Gerber in
  26. notrump auctions and any time it's clearly not anything else.  This
  27. auction definitely qualifies.

  29. By the way, in my partnerships, I could not bid 3C---that would be New
  30. Minor Force showing 5 spades.
