- Can't speak for dressage shows but this is how my dressage bit was checked
- at the novice and training level combined training events I competed in.
- There was always a distinctly different warm-up area from the competition
- arena. I always showed up at the competition arena about half-way through
- the preceeding rider's test and just stood there or walked around in a
- large circle on a loose rein to let Saint relax a little before entering
- the ring. The steward always checked me as I was standing there or
- stopped me at the point of my large circle that was closest to the ring.
- To check, s/he would slip a finger inside the horse's mouth (I showed
- dressage in a figure-eight noseband so peeking inside wasn't an option)
- and feel what kind of bit was in there. Oh yeah, s/he asked first if the
- horse was a biter. After checking my bit, s/he would also check my spurs
- to make sure they were legal (only blunt spurs were allowed at my level).
