- Hi,
-
- The book "The Art of Soap Making" by Marilyn Mohr (Camden House, 1979) has
- a recipe for making transparent soap. Basically it says that any good pure
- soap can be made into a transparent soap by shaving the soap, and heating
- it in a alcohol mixture, "essentially a conversion from the crystalline to
- the colloidal state". Right. 8^) I find this is a so-so book in general,
- not being as precise as I might otherwise want. My main soap making book
- is "Soap: Making it Enjoying it" by Ann Bramson (Workman, 1975), which has
- enough detail to really let you feel like you know what you're doing.
- Other soap making books I've gotten out of the University's Chemistry
- Library, and have been interesting, technical, and good for creating your
- own soap recipes.
-
- Have fun,
-
- John
