- Readers, Black Diamond is NOT recalling ATCs. I called them about this
- posting. Mine was not the first phone call. An REI employee found a surface
- defect (burr or sharp edge?) on the inside of the ATC he owned causing
- excessive wear to his rope. REI may be replacing ATCs they've sold that have
- similar surface defects. I'm not sure of their plans. I've heard of no
- other instances of such defects.
-
- Black Diamond knows of no design defects in the ATC. I, and all of my climbing
- friends feel that it's the best belay device commonly sold at climbing shops.
