  48. An offensive comment is offensive whether it is intended as friendly or
  49. not.  If the reply one makes to an offensive/friendly comment spoils
  50. the other person's day and makes them wonder why (as suggested above)
  51. then it does not accomplish nothing, as suggested above.

  53. The sort of sexism I refer to above is the sort of sexism by default.
  54. The poster I was responding to suggested ignoring the problem.  It is
  55. ignoring the problem which will, at best, accomplish nothing.
